Personal Growth Looking At Life In A Different Way

The truth is that most people look at life through dark glasses and, as a result, everything appears gloomier than it should. This is normal because the subconscious mind is hard-wired to look at reality through our programming and it is more likely than not that the mind will focus on negative rather than positive programming. This mental blockage is what’s keeping your life on hold.

You have to alter the way you look at the world – this is the very essence of personal development. However, I’m not proposing that you look at the world through rose-tinted glasses – this would prevent you from noticing possible pitfalls or warning signs. Such an attitude disables people from knowing when to give up on something that is not working for them – for example, a dead relationship or a floundering business. In other words, what is widely known as positive thinking or a positive mental attitude is truly dangerous and often leads to the excuse of all: “I won’t do anything because I just know that things will get better!”

Something different, even innovative, is required. I am suggesting that you see the world for what it is – the reality of the present moment. Only in the here and now can you see the upside of opportunities that you might altogether otherwise fail to notice with those dark glasses on. Similarly, you will be acutely aware of downside of what you’re doing or thinking about doing – something that you could completely miss if you’re looking through those rose-tinted spectacles.

However, the reality and opportunity of the present moment can only be experienced, appreciated and capitalized upon if you ignore your hard-wiring – something that doesn’t come naturally to the normal adult. But it was second nature to all of us as children. In fact, it was that clear state of mind that enabled us to be programmed in the first place. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to relearn how to fully be in the here and now without adding your own personal spin or preconceived notions into the mix. You must stop making a nonsense of the present moment by relying on your conditioning.

You can do this by coming to your senses – I mean that quite literally. You’ve got five senses – you need to start noticing what they’re actually telling you. Research tells us that, as adults, we don’t pay a blind bit of attention to what our senses are really telling us. Instead, our programming has lulled us into a false sense of security that we know best. We don’t – we couldn’t, we’ve no perspective on the bigger picture of what life might be like if we let it.

To come to your senses, you need to spend some time each day, preferably early in the morning, training your mind to pay attention to what you actually see, feel, hear, smell and taste, without interpreting, without analysing, without jumping to your routine conclusions. Start working one sense at a time and see where it takes you.

Have Women Contributed To The Formation Of Modern Civilization?

Almost ending all discussions, Freud thundered, ‘Women can’t contribute to civilization’. With there being very little input from women in history compared to men, Freud almost got scot free with his statement. However, with women going through suppression, due to, what the feminists call patriarchy, while it was natural for him to say so, as a reaction, it was not unnatural for feminists to accuse him of being a male chauvinist either. No wonder, the endless clash between feminists and Freudians reminds one of clash of civilizations.

However, irrespective of the clash, her lack of noticeable contributions to history’s ‘pocket civilizations’ was not due to her innate inability. It was due to her lack of awareness. With men having the key to her awareness, feminists, again, were not wrong in blaming patriarchy for her small contribution in history. Having no education, being stuck at home and not really allowed to express their views outside, it was, in fact, difficult to expect contribution from them. In fact, with no rights, their lives, at times were miserable and women’s empowerment was never even thought of.

Almost constituting empowerment of women, today we see that women are not only contributing but are fully reaping the benefit of modern civilization. With its help, they in fact, have unleashed their powers, never known in human history. Their success statistics in many fields are staggering. They have achieved this success in just a single century, when they were given the opportunity to educate themselves and work outside home. They, however, have not succeeded in politics. In fact, Afghanistan has got more female MPs than Canada. This is simply because political parties follow a process of selection of candidates and don’t give enough seats to women. Leaving politics aside, did they contribute to the formation of this civilization, which has given them so much?

Almost as an answer, while less of her education made her contribute less than men, more of his arrogance did not notice, even those.

Nevertheless, her contributions went parallel to that of men, at least in significance, if not in quantity. Interestingly, while modern civilization not managing without computers is well known, a woman as a first computer programmer is less known. Paralleling this, many other women contributors and their contributions are relatively less known. Men’s contributions, on the other hand, get luckier by the day.

It is interesting that unlike ‘pocket civilizations’, modern civilization, uniquely, has been formed by contribution of people from many ‘pocket civilizations’. Parallel to it, women from different cultures have contributed to the shaping of this civilization. In its discussion about the past, present and future of mankind, noting this discrepancy, the book ‘Women’s Power: Its Past, Its Present, Its Future: Femocracy’ recognises not only the contribution made by the fairer sex from the west but by women from of other cultures as well

Are There Many Differences Amid Man And Woman?

To start with, the most palpable difference between sexes is the anatomy. Even male and female animals look quite different. It is, however, interesting to note that, while animals have so similar faces that it is hard to identify them individually; our individual faces are so different. We have so much difficulty in finding, even a lookalike. But then, the facial contour of man and woman is so different that even babies can identify a male and a female face. However, differences between sexes go much beyond anatomy.

Although we knew so much about men, with educational empowerment of women not being there, we hardly knew about women. Even poets, who were a guide to the society, openly said that women were a mystery. Society only knew that women cyclically menstruated, produced babies, had a different anatomy, and were weaker, emotional and less intelligent. Religious laws focused on those differences. It fitted very well in the concept of man working outside and women working at home.

Today, we have round about invaded male and female bodies with all sorts of gadgets like injections, MRIs, CT scans, X-rays, US, etc. We have taken blood, bone and tissue samples and tested them. While these have taken our differences from anatomy to histology to genes, they have also taken physiology to the blood parameters. Normal male and female blood parameters are different. Scientists not only study adults, they even study kids and babies. Now we are told that even new born babies are not clean slates, as was believed some time back. As if combining sexual revolution and science, even brain is said to be a sex organ. Once formed inside the womb with the help of hormones, it is said to be an unchangeable sex organ after birth.

It is amazing that, while concept of equality tries to take no notice of|ignore|disregard|discount differences between the sexes and even ‘forces’ religionists to say ‘women are equal but different’, science brings about these unending number of differences. In addition, with women’s empowerment, now even women are expressing their inner feelings coherently; only to increase the differences. In addition again, modern civilization has made so many amenities available to both sexes that use of those simply increases the differences.

Now the question is; what is the significance of these differences? Are they pointless or are they important? It is important to say that today; there is a huge competition between the sexes. Almost like a supermarket’s slogan ‘every little helps’, these differences do help the one, who gains from it.

Not missing to note it, the book, ‘Women’s Power: Its Past, Its Present, Its Future: Femocracy’, not only discusses more than 50 differences between sexes, it also gives their implications relevant to a competitive world.

Did ‘Man The Hunter’ Alone Develop Our Primitive Mind?

The unit cells in the brain that allow us to think are called neurons. Our brain has billions of them; interconnected billions of times. All messages perceived through our senses are stored in the brain. It follows that more the experience, more the information and more the sharing between neurons. Brain has got this innate power to come up with answer, when a query posed to it. This answer could be in the form of a new idea. No wonder they say ‘necessity is the mother of invention’.

Our primal brain was no different. In fact, we are now beginning to understand that even animals can think, reflect and bring about new ways to get food. The only problem is that they do, almost everything, for the sake of food, defence and procreation. However, there is a big difference between the primitive mind of our ancestors and ours- living in today’s modern world. We are able to think a lot more and our brain has much more ideas than theirs. From this, it is clear that our mind made us human. What brought about this change in the making of a man out of a monkey? What made our mind develop?

Our social evolution tells us that man discovered fire, developed tools and that he hunted for a living. These developed man’s mind and gradually the developed mind developed societies. The big question is, what did women do? Did they contribute to the development of human mind? Or did they just sit back idly?

With our view of women being ignorant, less intelligent and passive, and Freud even saying that women cannot contribute to civilization, women’s contribution in the evolution of human mind has not been recognized. The lack of empowerment of women did not help. The fact is that they did contribute to the development of mind in their own way. In fact their necessities were more pressing.

Having come from animals, where both male and female are individually active, strict division of labour wasn’t there in the primitive society. This was in fact, a later development. Practically speaking, women hunted along with men. Their babies used to cling on to their hairs. With gradual loss of body hair, women had to device ways to hold the baby and free their hands. In this instance, bag was not invented to collect berries alone; they were possibly invented to carry babies as well. Besides, unlike animal babies, our babies cry. This required measures to pacify them. In short, women were not sitting idly and doing nothing. They were active, their minds were active and they definitely contributed to the development of both mind and society. Following women’s empowerment, they are claiming their rightful position. Irrespective of that their role in the development of the human mind is fully recognized in the book ‘Women’s Power: Its Past, Its Present, Its Future: Femocracy’.

Are Women More Powerful Than Men?

Signifying clash of sexes, members of both sexes, especially when in the comfort of unisex gatherings, have expressed deficiencies in the opposite sex. ‘You know what men are like’ and ‘you know what women are like’ are the usual statements. In today’s real competitive world, the question asked above has become more important.

History, unfortunately, has not been kind to women. They were suppressed, almost in every culture- at least, over the last 2000-3000 yrs. They were said to be less intelligent, passive, emotional and much more. Not only men, even women thought that those assertions were gospel truths. They hardly ever protested. It became a way of life. As a concept, it fitted very well in the making of a stable society, where men worked outside and women worked at home.

As if they were locked at home, women were neither accessible for study nor were known properly. Not only the lay, even poets, who gave direction to the society, openly said that women were a mystery. Even women did not know about themselves. Far from showing power, ignorance made them suffer so much. Looking back, even men feel sorry for the distress women had to go through then.

Parallel to other changes, there have been certainly made them- especially the feminists, aware of their rights. Feminists struggled hard for women’s rights.

Following a long struggle, women are now able to express themselves in a coherent way and scientists are able to study them better. Books and journals are full of research papers dealing with them. Now we know that women are better off biologically. They survive birth trauma better, live longer and can withstand stress more. In addition, while their beauty helps them in beauty mad world, enhancing beauty, use of cosmetics, ornaments and colourful dresses give them an edge. Following sexual revolution, they have been able to use their sex power, as never before. In a competitive world, these and other factors matter a lot.

Unlike many centuries available to men, availing just a single century, they have shown success in so many fields. Their lack of success in politics is simply due to selection procedure followed by parties. Although seen to be empowerment of women, it is their exceptional power, which is clearly seen in the success statistics. The question is, will this success go on? Almost as an answer, like a man’s world of today, the book, ‘Women’s Power: Its Past, Its Present, Its Future: Femocracy’, makes a case for woman’s world in the future.
